Extract the exe file and run it. Check the details and to start the upload you'll need an appropriate user/password that has the authority to restore a library and add a system license (Spell/400 is actually installed with QDFTOWN ownership):
If you don't extract the exe file you may get an error like this:

The problem, in typical windows crypto-speak, is that the zipped exe we provide is trying to write a log file in the temporary folder - so that you can track its actions. Windows won't allow this file to be created in the zip folder, so you need to extract the exe onto the desktop and run it there.
Some versions of OS400 install Spell/400 correctly but have a software error when the FTP job tries to end:

We think this is an OS/400 bug during the license creation, so when we can verify this we will remove the licensing from the evaluation.
On the log generated by the EXE on the PC you might see a comms error:
ftp> RCMD CALL QTEMP/INZBNBSPA QTEMP
Recv failed
Socket error #10054
This seems to happen with the software error logging problem, but again, the software is probably installed correctly.
If the Install seems slow, or the progress bar seems to have stopped, you can check the progress by looking at QSYSOPR or WRKACTJOB JOB(QTFTP*). In the example below the job status is SVFW (Save File Wait) which means it's just a low priority job taking a long time to restore the objects:
If the install went well (and usually it's security which causes any problems) then you will have a menu in QUSRSYS called SPELL400 and Spell/400 will have a grace license.
When you first go to this menu it checks if the grace license has been created and, if not, tries to create one again.
If the license cannot be created either time then the likelihood is that one of the user profiles used (either on the FTP or GO SPELL400) doesn't have access to the i5/OS licensing system. You can try the menu using a *SECOFR profile, but if this does not work then unfortunately the software will not be able to create a grace license and we will have to issue one via email.
When the EXE is active (even when it says upload has finished, it is still active), you can see the joblog on the QTFTP* job. Once the EXE ends it tries to write the joblog in 1 of 2 files:
QGPL/INZBNBSPA
QGPL/INZBNSPA2
