With Spell/400 V3R4M3 we have introduced a webfacing frontend which you can test during the evaluation and adapt to your own projects.
Note that we can't support all the possible configurations of IBM's webfacing, but we can confirm that the following setup works:
The DDS can be found in SPELL400/WEBFACING.WY6SA50W and, for testing, SPELL400/EXAMPLES.SPADSPF:
If you convert the DDS without any changes you'll need these buttons:
![]()
![]()
![]()
![]()
![]()
Save them into the root directory of the C: drive (yes, we know, terrible place but the CONVERT doesn't seem to like directory names with spaces in).
We used the 'textbuttons' style because we didn't want the browser to display the F-keys.
Enter a CL command 'call spell400/spaclp' and it should all work. If you have a problem ensure that you can run this program from a green-screen session.
We altered the CSS to change the color on hover.
Although OVRSPAENV allows a UIM of *WEBFACING - you do not need to set this. Spell/400 will ignore the UIM whilst being used under Webfacing.
Note that you can only use STRSPACHK, and *not* STRSPASCN.
If you test other EXAMPLE programs make sure that Spell400 is in library list so that SPADSPF can be found.
We found running the spaclp in the 'main' browser had a Javascript error. We would have looked further but since it doesn't appear in the 'new' browser we've left it for now.
